F!Sk® Self-Assessment

Welcome to F!Sk®, the Framework for Innovation Skills created by Celsio.

The F!Sk® framework provides standardised definitions for the full range of innovation skills and competency levels that a team needs to have to drive effective and sustainable organisational innovation. F!Sk® is fully aligned to all aspects of ISO 56000, the international suite of standards for Innovation Management, and has been developed in partnership with leading academics and experienced innovation practitioners.

Innovation is a key factor in driving growth and efficiency, and the need to transform is becoming ever more acute. Any organisation looking to create a culture open to change and innovation must establish which skills are required to innovate, and then to ensure the team develops these skills.

There are no right or wrong answers in this assessment. This self-assessment is designed to allow you to capture where you feel your personal innovation strengths lie, and to identify areas for personal development. The report you receive after completing the self-assessment will be useful as a personal benchmark for your future development of innovation skills.

How to complete the assessment

For each of the innovation skills below, select the competency level that best describes your current experience - not where you'd like to be. If a skill is not relevant to your role, select N/A.

Contribute I get involved when I'm asked to and am given clear instructions that outline what's expected from me.
Assist I provide assistance and help to others, and I confidently complete small tasks when given broad guidance.
Facilitate I take responsibility for delivering on a small scale, and I know how to apply a limited range of tools and techniques.
Lead I have authority and responsibility to decide what is to be done, and I confidently apply a wide range of tools and techniques, some of which will be new to me.
Inspire I have overall responsibility for budget and success, and it's my job to generate enthusiasm, encourage participation, and to secure commitment and support from others.
N/A Not applicable - I'm not involved in this skill area.

Read each skill description carefully and choose the level that most honestly reflects where you are today.

All you need to do is read each skill definition and choose the option that you think best represents your experience with that skill. And remember, this is a self-assessment tool and only gives an indication of your innovation skills capability, as you perceive it. Its primary purpose is to give a starting point for your own Personal Development Plan (PDP) - an action plan to improve your innovation capability and confidence.
